Chickpea Tabbouleh!

(pretends like she never took a two month break from this blog...)

Thanks to another blog I read, cupcakesandcashmere.com , I recently discovered Recipes for 101 Simple Salads. As soon as I saw the delicious looking pictures at the top, I read down the list, selected #18, based on the ingredients we already had in the house, ran downstairs, and prepared it! On the dinner table tonight... Chickpea Tabbouleh! Couldn't resist not posting this link for you!

In My World...

"The guest book in my world is rather full" ~ Me to my mom a few minutes ago. So tonight I realized that we all kind of have our "Own Little Worlds" where we are the center of the universe and where everything has something to do with us. My dad made the comment that my mother was tired from a long day of cooking and that maybe I should try connecting to her in "her world" instead of dragging her into mine, as I usually do. So for about 30 seconds I attempted visiting someone else's world, without a pressing need to enter their world. Yeah, I failed. I found my mothers "world" to be a much less exciting place than I imagine my own world to be. Needless to say, I soon left my mothers "world" and headed straight back to mine. Then I remembered that I was still lonely in my world and that I wanted some company, so I again tried the standard, fall back procedure, ramble on aimlessly at my mother.

At this point, I kind of realized how often I force people to visit "my world" rather than visiting them in theirs (i.e. having them talk about their lives, what they were doing, their problems, their excitements etc.) I often drag them into my world. Weather these victims are willing or not, I don't know. I guess it has something to do with personality, some people don't like visitors in their "worlds" and some people just loving visiting other peoples "worlds" so much that they never have time for visitors. And then, there are the people like me who are constantly handing out invitations to visit our "worlds" whenever anyone would like. And dragging people in when we find our worlds too empty (just ask my mom how fun it is to have frequent flier miles in "Jordan Land").

Those of you who know me, I'm sure that you've realized this all already, but, hey!, you learn new things every day, so today I'm wondering.... Do I really visit the "worlds" of other people often enough or am I too busy entertaining people in my own "world"? Who knows...

So enough about how we all have our "Own Little Worlds" I don't care if I drag people into mine too much, and if you don't like being in mine, I suggest you stop reading now! Because I now would like someone to listen to the goings ons in "Jordan Land."

Tonight, when it was dark, mind you, I had to drive up the big hill and past Park High School, in the dark. Driving in the dark isn't that bad, but, as I learned tonight, driving in the dark with fog is bad. Nothing went wrong, everything is fine, it was just an interesting experience, being on top of a crumbling country road, in heavy fog, in the dark, not really knowing where I was going. Oh, and I managed to eat during all of this. Oooo.. having my license is going to be fun! In addition to all of this I also learned how to "De-fog" the windshield. A trying process, seeing as Dad never showed me how, and yet expected me to know.

As some of you know, I'm in the process of moving my bedroom from the second floor to the attic, switching rooms with my older brother. The switch originated when Sam had his knee surgery two weeks ago and needed a room with less stairs to climb. I let him have my nice, big bed for a while, and during this time I learned just how uncomfortable a bed with no box spring and no board, just a mattress suspended in the air by 5 skinny boards, can be. To fix this problem, tonight I decided that I needed my nice bed back and I began the process of moving my bed up and his bed down. First, we (Joel, my dad and I) attempted to get the box spring up our crazy-small-awkward attic stairs, and failed. (I'm gonna have to move a book case to make this work.)

After giving up on the box spring, we moved on to the mattress, and let me tell you, I have a very heavy mattress, just ask me, I was on the bottom. With much grunting, pushing, shoving, and squirming we were able to get the mattress into the desired room. When we had fixed the broken bed frame with many a new screws (some how this things had fallen apart, literally) Dad finally thinks to tell me that the bed frame wont really work without the box spring... which isn't up here... and which isn't going to be up here for a while. And that is why I will be sleeping on a mattress on the floor in the middle of a bed frame tonight.

My droopy eyes are reminding me of the wonderfully soft-Jordanish mattress that sits waiting for me.... up in the hole. :-D

New Driver!

There's a new driver in the house! And.. no.. its not me :-D. This morning Ty and I took "Joe the Jet Jeep" out for a spin, Ty's first official time in the drivers seat. I had an interesting time explaining "reverse" and "turn left" and "turn right." But it made for some good laughs on my part! The funniest thing would have to be that Ty calls "Joe", "The Jet Beep" not the "Jet JEEP!" Cramming myself into a space created for a four year old also proved interesting, requiring me to pull my knees up to my chest and lean over Ty... He didn't seem to mind. He managed the "gas" pedal and I steered some of the time, going up and down our alley, and all around the Knights Of Columbus parking lot. Ty also has an annoying habit of stopping suddenly about 20 feet away form something (weather it be a parked car or grass or a bush) and exclaiming "We can't hit the truck!" I have no idea how many times I assured him that we would NOT hit the truck and that I wouldn't let him. And that's how I spent this morning.... teaching a two year old to drive a Power Wheels vehicle. :-D

A Day With the Clarkes

A week ago today, Wednesday that is, my older brother Sam, my mom and Tessa all went to go look at a college. So, Trent, Ben, Ti and I got shipped of to the Clarkes for the day. Naturally, Rach and I took pictures, lots of them, I still don't have a bunch of them on the computer yet. We had a really great day in the cold-wet-rainy-ness.

In the goat shed... It smelled like goat poo. Aint she perty?
"WAIT! Stay right there." Feet were up because there was a whole stinking foot of water in the bottom of the boat. :P

"What do you want to do Jordan? We could go for a row in the boat!"

She said "Take a picture of me posing by this!" me "oo, you look drugged!" her "yeah, I do.."

So! then I totally climbed up on top of this *wet* dump truck!

Yeah.. My pants were wet after this, keep in mind that it was kind of raining...

My Sister

Although most of you readers already know, I think this deserved a post anyway!

My sister, my only sister, the best sister I could ask for, and the most cutest baby girl in the entire world, entered the world on March 26th at 8:17pm. Tessa Rose Connor weighed 6 pounds and 7 ounces and was about 19 inches long!

Look at this amazing hair!!!!!! She has hilights!

SOOO cute.

So I guess I finally got my wish! The one thing that I've been wishing for, for over a decade! And, she is much much much much much much MUCH more wonderful than I could have ever thought to wish for!!!!
Oh, and unfortunately Tessa and my mom are back in the hospital today :P because Tessas Bili Ruben level is too high. Not cool! All of us miss her already, and we've only known her for four days!

Looking Back

I realize that these following pictures are very low quality, they were taken with a phone :)

When I was looking at the very few pictures on this computer, I stumbled across these and reminded me of, well, of when they were taken! Ti was just a cute little bug, Ben's hair was still really curly and really blond. My hair was shorter, I was younger. :P I feel kind of old! And now (about April 20th, to be exact) I get to start all over again with the little baby, short hair, and feeling younger than some. So here's to going around again, spring is such a weird time.

Ti and Ben, YOUNG Ti and Ben
Awww, when Ti would suck his thumb... doesn't do that anymore
My chin and my baby :) Yes, he is my baby. Don't know what I'm gonna do when he has to move over and make way for this new baby.
I do wonder what Ti is going to think about being an older brother, I have tried to communicate to him that there will be a little baby soon, but at his young 2years of age, he has no idea what in the world I'm talking about! Its funny how with each new brother, the now second youngest gets hastily displaced from my lap as "my baby" and the new one moves in. In a way all my little bros are my babies (yes I am a mother to5 going on 6 at the age of 15) but they all grow so quickly that one minute they're my baby and the nextt they're the five year old who's in my room and bugging me to death.

Trent was my baby, although I was only four when he came along. When we were little I would dress Trent up in my "milk maid" dress and we would play for hours on end. Trent was an extremely good sport when it came to my definition of fun and games. We played dress up and dolls and tea-party galore. Trent is by far my baby, or I guess he is and has always been more of my buddy. Although all of his recent pubescent 12yo boy stuff isn't doing much for our relationship at the moment.

Joel is... is.... is... well, lets just say that our personalities are rather incompatible. I love Joel because he's my brother and hes (generally) a good kid. I don't really remember that much about when he was little... But I love him and he was one of my babies. oh, and its really funny to get him into a pointless argument, he just cant quit!

Cal is awesome, now, that is. When he was my baby, and got toted around on my hip, he was a wretch. I was really skinny, then :P, and he was a big kid. He was bad when he was a toddler because his solution to everything was SCREAM. Now, when he's 6 going on 7, he is almost my fave little brother. I think that Cal and I are probably the most compatible out of all of me and all my brothers. We are both artistic, we are also the only two who will slapjack against eachother anymore. We both beat everyone else :) Actually, Cal is the one I get mad at the least. Im kind of sad to say that I get upset with my brothers at all, but its true. Cal just brought me home a squishy dinosaur pen, he is extreamly thoughtful. :D

Ben is a good little 5 year old. He was my baby too, I remember standing in Cabellas holding his hand, we were buying fudge :). I was always buddies with the baby at the time, and extreemly blonde-curly-Benjaming was no exception. This one particular day in Cabellas was awesome becasue, I would come up to the counter with Ben (you would not believe his hair!) and I asked him what kind of fudge he wanted. As soon as that lady behind the counter saw his hair, she was immediately, offering TONS of fudge samples to the "little boy with the adoreable hair" and his big sister! yeah, Ben rocks, to this day I call Ben "The Blonde Curly One" and Joel as "The Blonde One." Bens personality is classified as an Eyore (sp?) he lives in a pitty party, we get along pretty well, and I miss having him as my baby.

Ti, now Ti is MY baby. I think he is even more my baby than his older brothers because I was older when he was born. He's only two now, so I dont have a great look into his personality yet, but I guess you could say that we are literally attatched at the hip :)

And finally this unknown child who I get to meet sometime next month. I want to name it Mitchell if its a boy... which it will proboably be :D I like being sole princess. Although, I wouldn't mind sharing my title with another... I wish

Rhetorical Questions

I enjoy rhetorical questions... Especially the really rhetorical questions, like this one Joel just used on my mom.

"Have YOU ever starved to death?!?!?!?!"

Just think about that for a second, have you ever starved to death?

Wouldn't This Be Nice?

This is seriously going on my bucket list.  How much fun would this be?!?!?!?  Once again, I'm wishing it was warm enough to do this.  And that I had a trampoline and a bunch of friends who are silly enough to do this with me!  Sleeping on a trampoline all night *sigh* that would be pretty stinking awesome.  So anyone who wants to do this with me say "I"!

Dreaming of Warm Weather...

Just like almost everyone else around here, I am extremely tired of all this cold weather!  I was looking back through my photos from April last year and I am *amazed* at how green everything is.  All of the little weed-like flowers that grow in our yard when its warm would be welcomed readily.

These are the bushes at the front of our house, they look nothing like this now...
Calvin and Ben had a ball picking the blossoms off of the ^bushes^ and putting them all over the porch.
Ti.. wow, when he was younger, almost a year younger.  Notice the green grass *sigh*
I am aware that I look ridiculous in this picture... But I think I would pay for a sunburn right now.
And a basked of flowers that Ben and Cal picked

I Have Been Tagged

Olivia  tagged me with a tag. Imagine that. Okay, and the rules are...
The rules are:
1. Go to your documents/pictures.
2. Go to your 5th file.
3. Go to your 5th picture.
4. Blog about it.
5. Tag 5 people.

Im going to cheat a bit and skip to the 6th folder because the 5th folder isn't mine :)

Explanation:  Self photo soot in the bathroom... proud to say Its actually not that bad of a picture of myself!  It was taken 2 months ago...
Although, I have to say that the 6th picture is a BIT more randomly wonderful... :) told you I was in the bathroom!

Most random thing I did today is playing Wii Fit for an hour and a half while I was babysitting this evening!  Dont worry, the kids were all safely in bed, I think..... Now my legs are sore....

Baby and Me Sittin Here

I sit here this morning with a sick baby on my lap.  Okay fine, he's two, but he has a fever that I gave him :( and he is perfectly happy to sit here on my lap and listen to music and watch me type.  I really should be doing some work right now.  Me and (odd smelling) Ti are listening to Love Story.  Maybe this is why I rarely ever post, because I can never think of anything to say!  I talk so much so that by the time I make it to the key board I've already said everything I want to say! Its pathetic I know.  Have a busy day later today, I technically should be doing a bunch of school right now seeing as I am REALLY far behind :).  My grandma is coming up this evening so my mom and dad can go on a date.  But I don't get to sit here with gram, no, I get to go babysit! Not as bad as it sounds.  I havent done enough yet today to do something random... I ate 6 pancakes this morning though. :) with chocolate chips, they were good.

Inspired

At this very moment I have decided to try and post more on my blog :P and I know all of you are thinking "yeah right!" Well, it never hurts to try! I have to say the only reason for which I am posting is the song I last posted about, I have it on repeat play and have listened to it about 78 times by now :)  I find it inspiring. Update on my life~ I have been sick... and then I was sick... THEN I was sick! And NOW I'm sick! Woke up this past Saturday almost dead and I haven't stopped coughing or feeling sick since then.  Had spanish today, that was intresting because I also have a sore throat that make me sound like a pubecent 13 year old boy.  And we had writing class (even though I don't participate) and I got pinched by my mom for talking too much!  Oops. Other than that I have been bugged to death by this stupid peice of plastic in my mouth thats for my TJM (and I don't even remember what in the world TMJ stands for!).  And that in a nutshell is what I've been up to.  I'll try to post something more interesting tomorrow, or sometime in the next month.

OH! Most random thing I did today... *thinks*  Pitty, today didn't really present a chance for randomness, so I'm just gonna be boring and repeat myself and say listening to this Lucky song WAYYYY too many times today.  It's been going non-stop since like 10 this morning and it's almost 11 pm now!

Lucky!

To put it lighty, I have been OBSESSED with this duet ever since I first heard it earlier this morning! You simply MUST listen to it!
Their voices were MADE for each other, like peanut butter and jelly and salt and pepper! So just listen, its magical. Oh, and its called Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat.

Can't Really Think of an Excuse...

Yeah, I dont even know why Im bothering to post now... Go figure, I really havent been up to anything that interesting, as most of you know.  For those of you who cant really make that assumption, Ive been doing magical things like school, dance, and torturing those whom actually wanted to watch and enjoy the super bowl!  My fingers just really feel like typing and typing fast at this very moment. Maybe its the temperature right now, for some strange reason its like negative-who-knows-what out side, and in our house even, and I am wearing a t-shirt.  :P   Its cold outside, and our whole back yard was pretty much an ice skating ring there for a few days.  And that concludes this completely useless post!  :)

Oh! and the weirdest thing that I did today was probably putting on makeup. Like, not my normal amount of make up, like foundation, blush, eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow...  Not quite sure why I did that....
