Be Jealous...

I went to the doctors today! It was thrilling. Really, thrilling. He took another x-ray of my foot, looked at it, and was pleasantly surprised! I had gone in expecting that I would have to stay non weight bearing as-is for another month. But boy-oh-boy did I get a treat!

I'm now going to start physical therapy, and begin putting weight on my foot again! Which is really a pleasant surprise.

Thanks for all the thought and prayer, things are looking up!

Rosy Day

What I found funny today:
(from Tessa's shirt)

"I feel rosy
he loves me
he loves me not
he loves me
rose petals falling
down to the ground
today is rosy"

I just want to compliment whatever moron came up with this, don't get me wrong, it's a cute shirt, but seriously, is this the best they could come up with? I suspect someone who doesn't speak English as their primary language.

On another note, I am becoming very adept at crawling and hopping on one foot. Ask to see my mad skills sometime. I've consumed more Gatorade than any human probably ever should, and more calcium supplements every day than what you probably get in a month. Oh, and my crutches smell like beef jerky. Just saying. It's still snowing. When I get back on my feet I'm going to learn how to do a front hand spring, or at least I'm going to try.

Snow on my Mind

Snow on my mind, snow in my yard, snow on the car, snow on the trees, snow in the air, snow making my air cold. It's snowing, Ty is screaming (no, we're not torturing him), boys are home from school... again :-P

Let's give a big round of applause to...
  • only 12 more geometry lessons!
  • shower chairs!
  • pretty falling snow!
  • onions to absorb bad germs!

Now lets Booo...

  • COLD.
  • sniffles.
  • my inability to run.
  • crutches + ice = :-/

Doing cartwheels would be awesome right now.... I can't wait till I can move again! And once I'm mobile I'm going to go! go! go! go! and go some more till I'm worn out from physical exaustion.

*laughs* I'm sitting here looking out the window at the heavily falling snow.... while planning my summer wardrobe! But hey, this is when all the stuff is on sale.

Oh, to be Asleep

Update! These wonderful drugs I have been on did a great job at keeping me comfortable for the past few days. But, in addition to controlling the pain they also made me v e r y s l e e e e e p y *yawn* My weekend followed a pattern, sleep, take pills, sleep, take pills, drink something, sleep, take pills, be forced to eat, drink something, sleep and it goes on and on. Not a lot to report. The surgery went well and it turned out that I had 3 fractures not just the original two, so now I have 3 embedded screws that will forever be a part of me. I also have a bone growth stimulator that I have to wear for 10 hours a day. Its annoying to tote around because its got a long cord etc, etc.

On the bright side, I'm now only taking one Vicodin as opposed to my 2 and 1.5 the past few days. Oh, and I can move on my crutches by myself again, its not excruciatingly painful to stand up. I'm better, not great. But better :-) Thanks for the prayer and concern. Ill find something more interesting to post about soon.

A Boat Load of ICK

Thanks for the comments! More ramblings and seriousness and myself it is then! I can do that :-). Because of my awful injury, my world has constricted and has been forced to become more self focused. Bear with me as I talk about me, because I can barely leave this couch to tell you what the rest of my family is doing!

Update on the injury... I feel like a pile of goat poo. Not good 'tall. The narcotics mess me up and make me cry, make my stomach hurt, and make me do all sorts of goofy things. This morning my father and I traveled up to Pittsburgh to see a foot specialist. I had more x-rays taken of my foot to assure that no toes were broken or anything (they weren't) and (sadly) I won't be getting a regular cast, sorry to those of you who would have loved to sign it (cough, kenna...). The BIG news :-( (everybody BOO) The very experienced doctor sayeth that... I broke a very important, very hard to heal, very problematic, very unusual, very risk filled bone in my poor little ankle. My talus (that's the bone I broke) got broken into two pieces, and will require surgery to fix. (Boo here.) I limped out of the office on my crutches (which are going to be my best friends for at least a few months) very down trodden and with tears in my eyes (oh, wait, I still have tears in my eyes!) My loving father proceeded to let me have a semi-enjoyable afternoon, dimmed only by my impending surgery, by letting me choose Panera Bread for lunch (yum) and letting me hop around Barnes and Noble book store before being confined to my couch and only my couch for a week or two.

Sooo, Thursday morning (time yet unknown) my father and I will go to the Surgery Center in Wexford, PA. Where, the doctors will proceed to place an IV (ICK/OWWWWW) send me to the land of dreams, put a block from my knee down (aka, numb it from my knee down for 20 hr!), then make an incision down the front of my ankle, align the two unaligned pieces of my talus and put them back together with two permanent screws.

THEN I wake up, still very drugged, and I get sent home with a bone growth stimulator (usually a last resort). At that point I will suffer on the couch for a few days. Hopefully at that point, the bone will heal and not die (there's a 50-50 chance that it will die, that would be BAD) and I'll take quite a while to recover.

I think that about covers it, oh, and my foot looks like a dolphin flipper. This thing is going to need some SERIOUS bedazzling!

Now What?

Hobbled my little self to the doctors today, and still.. no cast or diagnosis yet :-p On the bright side I did get to experience my first CAT scan today! Sadly, it had NOTHING to do with felines. No cats anywhere. Just a big circle machine to get a better picture of my strangely broken ankle. Apparently I have a very rare fracture! All I can say is that if I have to have a broken ankle, at least its unique. I go back Monday for (hopefully) a decision.

For the 3 of you who actually pay attention to this blog, I'm wondering what in the world you like seeing on here. I'm fine just rambling about whatever, but if vosotros (Spanish for y'all) like to see funny stuff, life stuff, interesting facts, lots of words or pictures, tell me :-D

Back By Popular Demand

After much urging from different parties, I have decided to once again, maybe, post on my blog. (surprise.) Actually, the motivating factor happens to be a fateful sled riding accident that occurred. Lets just say my leg met a tree and I crawled away (literally) with two fractured bones in my right ankle! So here I sit. Stuck on the couch with broken ankle, and nothing to do... other than blog. Amazing how high on my priority list this is. Seeing as I have nothing else to talk about... Last night after my father and I got back from the ER, where my lovely painted toenails were complimented extensively, I was given some rather strong pain blockers left over from a Connor older than me. My body, being racked with pain and swelling, and on top of that these extreme drugs, I experienced a rather interesting sensation. In the end of it all, the drugs and my hopping around were too much and I passed out! I was so proud of myself, now I can say that I have!
